GVS Reliability products was proud to once again support the fantastic VANZ conference this last May in Taupo, New Zealand.
As always, our kiwi condition monitoring compatriots put on a fantastic event showcasing exactly what condition monitoring and reliability engineering can achieve. During the initial “Awareness Day”, attendees got to spend time not just listening and learning about condition monitoring technologies, but actually using and engaging personally with the products themselves. On hand to educate and assist the awareness day participants, were experts in the fields of vibration, ultrasound, alignment, thermography and more. This style of introduction to CM skills and techniques was apparently a 1st for the VANZ conference
and by all reports, was a resounding success.
Regarding the awareness day and other VANZ related matters, we conducted an interview with Glen Pepper (VANZ committee member) on the success of the 2015 VANZ conference.
Q – What was the general consensus on the success (or otherwise) of the new Awareness day format?
Glen – “All the feedback we received during and postconference was extremely positive, together with a few improvement ideas to take on board for next year’s event…”
Q – Will VANZ be running a similar ‘practical’ awareness day format next year?
Glen –“Yes we are certainly planning to do this, andLarry Wiechern has already contacted me and is well
underway with the planning. Everyone who presented this time is keen to do something similar again next year in Queenstown (QT) and we have had a lot of other technical experts offering their assistance to impart there knowledge also.”
Q – What were the highlights of the event?
Glen –
- The Wairakei/Taupo Central North Island location meant this made travelling to the conference more accessible to the outer regions.
- Of course the “Practical Awareness day” format, was well received by all and a major highlight.
- Our Key note speaker from USA, Bob Craft shared his practical “Been there and done it” stories, and his relaxed presentation style pitched at the right level meant he was a hit.
- The high quality papers presented and the single stream format for a change was also well received by most.
- The large adjoined Exhibition area seemed to be a hit with both the attendees and the exhibitors…
Q – Who was the standout presenter of the 3 days? (Besides us GVS boys…)
Glen – “Bob CraftofGEandMatt BlanchofNoble Engineering(whoalso won best paper) are onesthat immediately spring to mind…”
Q – Do you have any words on next year?
Glen – “yes I can now confirm the location, date and venue for next year’s conference is to be in
Queenstown on the 10, 11 & 12 May 2016 at the Rydges Lakeside Resort. This is there off peak season in QT, meaning there pricing is very competitive and we plan to pass these savings onto the attendees, including an excellent accommodation rate from Rydges and multiple airlines advertising low cost direct flights from major NZ and Australian cities. Jason Tranter has also locked in a number of well-respected overseas presenters already, so things are already well and truly in motion for a great VANZ conference in 2016!”
GVS Reliability Products would like to personally thank the, conference participants, the VANZ committee and the support of the other vendors for making such a wonderful conference a reality.
Keep up the good work. See you in 2016!
