Over the past few weeks, we asked our LinkedIn community about their experiences and perspectives on predictive maintenance. The goal? To better understand adoption levels, technology use, and emerging challenges and identify where GVS can continue to support reliability professionals.

Poll 1: Adoption Stage

Half of respondents (50%) are currently searching for tools, systems, or providers Only 17% reported full implementation

Poll 2: Technology in Use

Vibration analysis is the dominant technology in use (67%), followed by oil analysis (25%).

Vibration analysis and Oil Analysis typically the first technologies people implement in to “tick the box” for condition monitoring.  As you mature your program, you may wish to consider adding more advanced tools, such as online sensing, or advanced diagnostic tools such as Motion Amplification to enhance your defect elimination capability.

Poll 3: Barriers to Implementation

Respondents identified two top barriers: upfront cost and lack of skilled personnel (both at 38%).

Poll 4: Data Confidence

Encouragingly, 75% of respondents are very confident in the accuracy of their predictive maintenance data, with the remainder somewhat confident.  

No respondents reported low confidence or a lack of data collection — a strong signal of maturity in data handling.

Poll 5: Role of AI

Most respondents (63%) believe AI and machine learning will be game-changing for the future of predictive maintenance.

What This Means

These results show a growing appetite for predictive maintenance solutions, a strong base in vibration and oil analysis, and significant opportunities to support users with training, integration, and future-focused technologies like AI.
